FREE Family Film Festival!

Selected G or PG movies start at 10:00am every Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. It looks like the movies begin at the end of June and run through August. Tickets and seating are first-come, first-served and are limited to theatre capacity. The Free Family Film Festival is safe, lots of fun and a great way for kids to spend a weekday morning in the summer. Tickets for our 2010 Free Family Film Festival are exclusively available at select theatres’ box office on the day of the show.

Autism Awareness Month - Movies at AMC!

This April’s Autism Awareness Month marks the first anniversary of the Sensory Friendly Films program, a joint venture of AMC Entertainment and the Autism Society. Screenings of the G- or PG-rated movies, all newly released, are held once a month on a Saturday morning. In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing – in other words, AMC’s “Silence is Golden®” policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned.

You can sign up for the Autism Society’s free e-newsletter for updates on upcoming Sensory Friendly Films, as well as the latest info on autism news, advocacy, research, education, conferences and resources! You can see the 47 theaters in 30 states listed here.

This month’s movie is “How to Train Your Dragon” on April 10th at 10 am local time.

Super Why is Hitting Theaters!

Two SUPER WHY episodes, Comic Book: Attack of the Eraser and The Big Game, will be in movie theaters on weekends in February as part of the Kidtoons program.

Free Days at the Creative Discovery Museum in Chattanooga, TN

The Creative Discovery Museum usually offers a FREE night at the museum thanks to the First Tennessee Bank. Instead, the Museum will have two community FREE DAYS on Tuesday, December 22nd and Wednesday, December 23rd. The Museum will not charge admission and will be open for FREE on these two days from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Come draw a holiday scene, sing songs, enjoy gingerbread people decorated by local organizations, and explore all our wonderful exhibits. Our special exhibit, Helping Hands, celebrates the spirit of the holiday season as it encourages children to help others by giving of their time, talent and treasure. Admission is free on December 22nd and 23rd but we hope everyone will bring mittens, scarves, gloves, hats and blankets for our Share the Warmth Tree. All items will be given to the Salvation Army to help people in need stay warm this winter.
