I recently had the opportunity to try two varieties of Nature's Own breads: Sandwich Rounds and Thin-Sliced Bagels for FREE for review purposes. The following is my honest (unpaid) opinion of these products:
I am already a HUGE fan of the Nature's Own Sandwich Rounds... it took no convincing here. I use them for sandwiches and love that I can taste all the other elements of my sandwich and not just the bread. My husband and I have also found that we like it made as toast as well, eliminating the need to purchase another loaf of bread. These sandwich rounds are so versatile! I pick them up to use as hamburger buns now too! The great thing about this is when I used to buy hamburger buns it was inevitable that some of them would wind up in the garbage (so frugal, I know) because we would never finish them before they go bad. Now, I've also eliminated the extra cost of burger buns!
Not only are Nature's Own Sandwich Rounds the frugal mama's friend because of their versatility (eliminating other bread purchases) they are also healthy! So, you can feel good about what you are putting in your body and your family's bodies! They come in both 100% whole wheat and mulitgrain varieties. My favorite is the whole wheat with no artificial colors, no high fructose corn syrup (becoming more and more important to me the more I read on this topic), 5 grams of fiber and 20 grams of whole grain, and only 100 calories per serving.
I also had the opportunity to try the new thin-sliced bagels. I had recently heard about these but couldn't find them in my local grocery store yet. I was thrilled to get them delivered to my doorstep! =)
They were absolutely delicious. My family LOVES bagels and they seem like such a guilty pleasure. Well, you no longer have to feel bad about choosing a bagel for breakfast. These thin-sliced bagels are the same size as the regular ones in diameter (making them fit nicely in your toaster) but are thinner in height. This makes them only 140 -150 calories per bagel - versus 300 calories in a standard bagel! My mom said, why not just eat half of a regular bagel... that is the same portion size right? Well, that would work, but my argument is that I really like the top half - so unless someone always wants the bottom portion that won't work in my house! LOL. Plus, I really like a toasted bagel and turkey sandwich every now and then and when you're having a sandwich you need both sides!
