Tailgating Recipe Contest and Give Away!

Football season is here…and everyone knows that game day just isn’t complete without the ultimate tailgating party!

Whether it’s with a group of friends huddled outside the stadium or the family gathered around the TV in the den, tasty food and snacks are essential to a “winning” tailgating experience.

I don't know about you but I love to host parties! Any kind of party really; I just love having the people I love hang out with me in my home. I'm a homebody really. I would much rather host the party then go to the party! I love getting my house clean, cooking party food, and decorating for a theme. Just because I like to be at home doesn't mean I don't love to be with my friends. And, inviting them over for a home cooked meal, or for a big bash is usually much cheaper than going out to eat somewhere. With football season here I've got one more reason to have the friends over!

I have to admit that most of the time when I am planning the menu of party foods to prepare I don't really calculate calories. I love junk food and my recipes aren't always health conscious. But, with a little vision and planning, you can score big by offering a menu that's just as delicious but a bit better for you. But it doesn’t have to flavor-less to be better for you. Frito-Lay offers portion control sizes make it easy to enjoy all your favorite treats – in moderation. And simple “tricks” like offering dips made with reduced-fat sour cream or that offer positive nutrition like salsa or guacamole, cooking with lean turkey meat and fat-free refried beans can cut hundreds of calories off your meals and still taste great for you and your hungry fans.

I'm hosting a Better-For-You Tailgate Recipe Contest

I want to hear your better-for-you recipes that you plan to share at your next family or neighborhood game-watch! One reader will win a Frito-Lay Tailgating Kit (approximate value: $50) equipped with better-for-you Frito-Lay products, a gift card for purchasing your ingredients and a stylish dish to serve your delicious recipes just for entering your better for you dish!

All you need to do is leave a comment telling us how to make your better-for-you dish for tailgates and football parties!
The only thing you MUST include is at least one Frito-Lay product. They can be incorporated in many ways:
. In the recipes themselves, such as Frito-pies
. Tostitos-base in taco salads dishes/dip
. Tostitos scoops or various other Lays chips used for "dipping" the recipes

For extra entries you can:

I make a low fat version of spinach artichoke dip using fat free cream cheese, nonfat yogurt and light mayo. Tostitos scoops are the perfect chip to dip into it. It's delicious and you don't even miss the fat!!

I make a dip with low fat cream cheese, olives, refried beans and salsa.
My father-in-law makes a homemade hummus with the chilis he buys from the festival here ever year and he uses the fritos scoops for dipping.
My uncle makes a taco salad and fritos are the taco part; he crumbles them on to the salad
My 13 year old son eats the chili fritos by themselves. :)

We love fresh salsa to dip our Tostitos. Just dice up tomatoes, onions, cilantro and add your choice of hot peppers. I like to make it hot and not only is it healthy, but I don't eat as much if it's spicy.

I try all types of food myself and I am always looking for new recipes, I particularly enjoy spicy recipes, but I did not expect to be watching so many foreign dishes being prepared. I also wanted to see good traditional dishes.
