I am going to make a collage of pictures with my husband showing great times we had together and then frame it for his gift. I am also going to rent a movie that we both like. I saved enough money from surveys to buy his favorite cheap take-out. We will cuddle and spend Valentine's together at home. This is a very cheap, but lovely night.

Back in the good old days, we played a lot of board games. I think a quiet evening at home, a home-cooked dinner, and an evening of playing board games sounds like a perfect Valentine's Day. No wading through the crowds that will surely be at the restaurants and movie theaters this Valentine's Day.

Time really is the most important "thing" you can give to your family - and it is free! Spend the evening making your special dinner together. Pasta is always and easy one and inexpensive. For dessert make a cake and let the kids decorate it any way they want. Then finish the evening playing games together.

In Finland, where I'm from, Valentines day is also Friends Day and in school we used to send anonymous handmade cards and it was fun trying to figure out who had sent which card. Now with my own family and our busy lives we make an extra effort to do something together, show how much we care about each other with words and actions.

As far as a inexpensive way to have a fun romantic Valentine's day... Our anniversary is February 9th. We live in Orlando, FL. I am a Disney fanatic (I become a 10yr old girl again when I am in the magic kingdom it seems :) So... we drive on over to one of the resort hotels that the Disney Monorail rides on, my fave is The Contemporary Resort, and ride the monorail around the park trails. If you time it right, you can see the Magic Kingdom fireworls display. When we have had enough of the monorail, we usually go into either the resort we started out and see if there are any special events going on. The last time there was a Latin ballroom dancing competition. I would have never known about it or thought of attending if we hadn't stumbled across it. We often have the opportunity, weather permitting to go out on a common balcony/lounge area and can bring our own wine and cheese etc. as we sit out on the lounge, again, looking at the fireworks if we so choose. I know this isn't an everyday occurence for most of the world, but Disney has fireworks every night, so we aren't challenged by a one time only event to enjoy them. Love your blog and enjoy your wit and insight

Go to a classy hotel and walk around.
Then go out to dinner at a place where you have a coupon.

I subscribed to Blog Talk Radio. I think this is a great idea b/c sometimes I don't have time to sit in front of the computer. With this I can turn it on while I am doing other chores.

My Valentine will be out of town, so anything we do will end up being cheaper because it will not be on V-day...

I'm going to make a dinner of all things red .... spaghetti, meatballs, pink milk! Plus a special chocolate dessert. Then we'll all snuggle on the couch and watch a family movie.

My kids all want to see the movie "Space Buddies". So, I'm going to buy that movie this week. Then I'm making "love pizzas" (mini pizzas shaped like hearts) and chocolate covered strawberries. Then we can curl up on the couch and watch the movie!

I plan on making a really nice steak dinner at home (way cheaper than an out-to-eat steak dinner). After the baby is asleep, we'll have chocolate covered strawberries in front of the fire.
