I am going to make a collage of pictures with my husband showing great times we had together and then frame it for his gift. I am also going to rent a movie that we both like. I saved enough money from surveys to buy his favorite cheap take-out. We will cuddle and spend Valentine's together at home. This is a very cheap, but lovely night.

A group of friends and I are sending our hubbies on a scavenger hunt at the mall. They have to take pics of themselves doing funny things and collect a few items (a certain flavored gumball, etc.). Then we are giving them each $2 to get us a gift. Then we will come back for dinner and vote on the best gift. :)
My group is staying in and having a waffle night. We'll buy a few toppings and play video games all night!
make your own valentines! for your family and for kids' school friends!
I bought a heart shaped cookie cutter at Target for $2.99. So, for our inexpensive Valentines day I'm making heart shaped pancakes for breakfast, heart shaped PBJs for lunch and heart shaped burgers for dinner. My 2 year old and I will be making valentines for everyone and delivering them to our friends ini the neighborhoo. Then in the evening, I'm sending my stepson and his dad out for a round of indoor mini golf so they can have some quality time together!

The kids and I cook their favorite meal and then they help me cook my husbands favorite meal. After the kids go to bed we rent a movie, dim the lights, don a fire in the fireplace and have a nice glass of wine. Simple yet romantic.
Back in the good old days, we played a lot of board games. I think a quiet evening at home, a home-cooked dinner, and an evening of playing board games sounds like a perfect Valentine's Day. No wading through the crowds that will surely be at the restaurants and movie theaters this Valentine's Day.

Time really is the most important "thing" you can give to your family - and it is free! Spend the evening making your special dinner together. Pasta is always and easy one and inexpensive. For dessert make a cake and let the kids decorate it any way they want. Then finish the evening playing games together.
For V-day, I'm gonna bake my husband's fave brownies :)

In Finland, where I'm from, Valentines day is also Friends Day and in school we used to send anonymous handmade cards and it was fun trying to figure out who had sent which card. Now with my own family and our busy lives we make an extra effort to do something together, show how much we care about each other with words and actions.
Just spend time together. Our daughter leaves us exhausted and one or both of us usually ends up going to be early. It'll be nice just to spend some time together and maybe have a nice meal together (at home).
We're planning on celebrating Valentine's Morning by making some heart-shaped pancakes. Simple, but my daughter is really excited about it!

As far as a inexpensive way to have a fun romantic Valentine's day... Our anniversary is February 9th. We live in Orlando, FL. I am a Disney fanatic (I become a 10yr old girl again when I am in the magic kingdom it seems :) So... we drive on over to one of the resort hotels that the Disney Monorail rides on, my fave is The Contemporary Resort, and ride the monorail around the park trails. If you time it right, you can see the Magic Kingdom fireworls display. When we have had enough of the monorail, we usually go into either the resort we started out and see if there are any special events going on. The last time there was a Latin ballroom dancing competition. I would have never known about it or thought of attending if we hadn't stumbled across it. We often have the opportunity, weather permitting to go out on a common balcony/lounge area and can bring our own wine and cheese etc. as we sit out on the lounge, again, looking at the fireworks if we so choose. I know this isn't an everyday occurence for most of the world, but Disney has fireworks every night, so we aren't challenged by a one time only event to enjoy them. Love your blog and enjoy your wit and insight
Restaurants are overcrowded and often overpriced for Valentine's Day. We are making a meal at home with brownie "hearts". My kiddos LOVE to cook!
