Launching of a NEW BLOG! WOOT! AND a Give Away from Hotslings!

Okay... I promised that I had big news coming soon and here it is...

I am launching a new baby blog thanks to Walmart! They have titled it "Baby Buzz" and it will feature a new article by me each week! This week the focus is getting to know me and the goals of this blog. I am really excited about this new piece. I know several of you have said that you want to know more about me and my baby boy on the way! Well, the secret is revealed... I will be sharing more about my pregnancy, birth, and the first months of my baby boy's life here on this new blog. Look for upcoming articles about registering, my nursery (along with pictures!), and baby showers! Try not to laugh too hard as you watch me bumble along as a new mom!

The other cool features of this blog are that I am posing questions in the question and answer area that I will need your advice on. And, if you have questions of your own about me, my pregnancy, my honest opinion on a product, or something you want other’s advice on, you'll get an opportunity to post your own questions and I will be answering them!

I'll keep you updated here when I post a new article over at the Baby Buzz blog so that if you are a loyal reader here and you'd like to know about the goings-on of my pregnancy you'll get the heads up! Of course, I'll be sending pictures and articles to Walmart to post on the Baby Buzz blog but I will also be giving special "Cent"sible Sawyer only updates and picture here too!

Okay, to celebrate my exciting new bloggy adventure I am doing a several reviews/give-aways with a baby theme this week! So, check back DAILY and get in on the fun!

First up is the incredibly Hot - Hotsling!

This is a really cool item. I had been wanting to try one out and when the company asked me to do a review I jumped at the chance. We (My hubby and I) registered for a baby carrier - one that straps to your belly where the baby can face forward or backward. It is basic black and will be super for my husband. However, I really like the HOT fabric that the Hotslings are made with. They are so pretty I had a hard time deciding which one was my favorite! This carrier will be just for me! I love the way that this sling hugs your body and promotes baby bonding but it is also flexible so you can still move and be hands-free! Although the Hotsling comes in really trendy fabrics for mom they do come in a "daddy-friendly" version! =)

Other "cool" factors for this baby-wearing sling are that once you buy one you can use it through all the stages of baby's life (8 - 35 lbs)! You can carry the the baby three ways with it: cradle carry, front carry, and hip carry. The sling comes with a great informational DVD that explains just how to fold and wear it - for those of us (like me) who have NO IDEA what they are doing! =)

It is also machine washable... which we all love! Baby spits up and you can throw it in the wash!

Another cool fact that makes me love it even more... it was created by a mom like us... a "Mom-trepreneur.” Hotslings was established in 2003 by Kristen DeRocha, Founder and Chief “Mom-trepreneur.” A former Dallas teacher, Ms. DeRocha created Hotslings to fill her need for a comfortable and well-fitting sling to carry her children. Literally created around DeRocha’s kitchen table!

You can purchase a Hotsling of your own in many retail stores such as Babies R Us... but if you order online from now until December 31st you will receive a FREE pair of Baby Legs! Get all the details on this special promotion HERE (These are sooo cute by the way!)

Okay, but you want to know how to win one of these sweet little baby wearin' slings!

Here's How:

Go and visit my new blog, "Baby Buzz"HERE
Check out my premier article and read some of my questions - hey and if you really love me... answer some of them - help a new mom out! (I'll even give you a second entry for your questions or answers!)

Then, come back here and tell me what you liked, disliked, and/or what you would like to see me write about (future stories for the Baby Buzz blog).

That's it! You'll be entered to win!

So, that means there are two ways to enter! You can visit the blog and come back here to leave me feedback and/or answer (or ask me a question) on the Baby Buzz blog and then come back here and tell me you did so. (Please leave a separate comment for each entry).

I will choose a winner Saturday, so enter to win by Friday at midnight! The winner will be chosen by random.org Good luck!!!

Yay! I answered your question about the bouncy seat!

I am excited about your new blog! Just remember to trust your gut and that people's advice (including my own!) may not be what you think is best. In the end you have to go with what you think is best for your family on everything!

I love the blog! I just adopted 2 kids from an orphanage in Haiti and we would take down needed supplies with us every time we would visit. We found the BEST cloth diapers that the caregivers raved about because they worked so well. I will ask around to find out where we got them and let you know. They were amazing. I had never used cloth before and if I were to do it over again, I would totally go this route next time.

Best of luck with your new blog! I'm sure people will enjoy articles about how to be frugal with all those new baby purchases. It is definitely easy to go overboard! Everything is SO cute!
As for me, I've used a Bjorn but always wanted to try a sling. I'd love to win one for my next little one!

I answered your question about the bouncy seat/jumper.

Slings are awesome! I didn't use one until we brought our fourth home from Guatemala, but I wish I had use one with the other three. I borrowed one, so I would love to have one of my own. :)

The new blog is so fun! It will be fun to follow along.

Congrats on the new blog, Denise! I know you'll do great with it.

Congrats on the new blog! I also decided to go back to work PT after our first baby was born in Nov. of last year. I was very nervous at first about the loss of income but ironically enough stubmled across your blog while out on maternity leave. Thanks for all the great tips. It has definitely helped make up some of the difference in me not working FT.

Congrats on the new blog. I think it's great to hear from a new mom experiencing everything for the first time. There is so much advice from mom's that have already been through the pregnancy stage that I think it will be refreshing for a first time pregnant mom to go through it with you.
I think it would be nice to see reviews of products like the Hotsling that were created by "Mom-trepreneurs.”

I would love to see how you find good deals on baby stuff. I am also a teacher who is choosing to stay at home with our little one due this month!

I like the idea alot. It is a little harder to navigate because I am not used to the format. I would like to see future posts about how you are planning ahead (freezer meals, cleaning, etc) for when the baby arrives.
I also commented on the jumperoo question under the e-mail rstarkjohn at yahoo.com

My family has also gone from 2 f/t incomes to one (and the one went from a well-paying corporate career to f/t ministry) so I know it can be tough...but it sure is do-able and the challenge is fun.

How fun!
As for feedback, I don't understand why it says "0 answers" to your questions when many people have answered already....not that that is anything you can do anything about, really...
I like the bang for your buck feature, and agree with the exersaucer!!

Jessica-MomForHim said...

I also answered one of your questions.
I love my Ergo carrier, and I'd highly recommend an exersaucer as well. I find I use my bouncy seat less and less with each child, and didn't care for the Bumbo as much as I thought I would. The saucer is better.

I recommended the exersaucer as well. I love the new blog and I can't wait to follow it.

Excited about the new blog! I answered a few questions over there (choward16). I am expecting #2 in June so a new hotsling would be great! The new blog looks great! I answered a question about cloth diapers, hope it helps! I have a friend with a 2 year old and expecting in June, she is looking for a sling so the baby can easily be on the go with her and her son. This would be a great gift!

I love my hotsling but it would be fun to have another color. It's one of the items I would say I can't live without. My youngest in almost 6 months. I also love my Bumbo seat, jumper that hangs in the door way and swing...other that that I really have not touched any of my other baby equipment that we got for my older 2 kids (4yr and 3yrs)

What gear can I not live without?

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5412495

Bright Starts Around We Go! Activity Station

This is WAY better than a bouncy/exersaucer. It keeps my active son in one play (contained) while allowing him to run circles and run and run and run more circles. We were gifted with this when B turned 4 months. It was great because he couldn't sit up but he had a desire to look, touch, and be "involved". The snack tray is removal and dishwasher safe. B is 11 months now, and although he's hit the weight limit, we can detach the seat and still use the activity station. He has yet ot flip it over, and he plays HARD with it. The $75 price tag is well worth the investment.

I love your blog and I can't wait to read more! I look forward to reading about all your discoveries about how to raise a baby conveniently and economically.

Anne said...

I tried to answer two of your questions, but they're all closed to new answers, SO here I'll tell you that my son loved his jumper from about 6 mos-12 mos. It's a short period of time, but good for exercise. What he got much more use from was his exersaucer. Those are less bouncy, but had more activities for him and he was able to use it for a longer period of time.
