Give Away #3

It is Tuesday and I am having a give-away blow-out this week. Kind of a count down until Thanksgiving to show how thankful I am for all my readers!

Today's give-away is thanks to a company called
Peter Rabbit...Naturally Better!

This is super cool because not only is it the classic Peter Rabbit (and book) that EVERYBODY loves to give to a new arrival, it is also "Green!" That's right - this rabbit is learning to be environmentally responsible. (Now if we could only get him to stop stealing from Mr. McGreggor!)

Peter Rabbit ... Naturally Better
is a group of companies including EcoNatura, Kids Preferred, Penguin Young Readers Group, and Peter Rabbit Organics that have all decided to market organic products around Peter Rabbit. These products include books (such as the classic story I have pictured), soft toys (such as the Peter Rabbit you see here - there is also ones of Peter's sisters, Floppsy, Moppsy, and Cotton-Tail), toiletries for infants, and food - marketed under Peter Rabbit Organics!

These products aren't just "green" because of what they are made of, these companies have also signed a "Corporate Social Responsibility Charter" designed to guide the manufacturing, marketing, packaging, and business ethics of the initiative. These companies are recieving oversight by the Foresty Stewardship, Sedex, and the USDA to ensure that they are meeting specific standards and that they are engaging in fair labor practices - putting them on the forefront of the "green" and ethical manufacturing movements.

Penguin Young Readers will introduce a new series of books to celebrate the launch of Peter Rabbit...Naturally Better all with a "green" footprint. The books will include a baby record book, two board books, a cloth book, and a special edition FSC version of the hardcover Peter Rabbit classic. These books (with the exception of the cloth book) are all printed on recycled paper and have been printed with the best available vegetable-based inks.

You can see some of the products mentioned here on the Peter Rabbit... Naturally Better website HERE. You can also purchase some of the products there. You'll also see some of these products cropping up in stores around you since they will be sold nationwide.

Wanna Win One?

You're in luck! This company has been so kind as to allow me to give-away one of these cuddly characters to one of my lucky readers. The stuffed animals are made of 100% certified organic cotton and eco-friendly materials. They also come packaged in recyclable, reusable, PVC-free packaging... AND, you get to pick which character you want!

Just leave a comment about one way (it can be a small - itty bitty way) you are trying to be environmentally responsible. AND, don't forget to tell me which one you want to win (Peter, Floppsy, Moppsy, or Cotton-Tail).

Want an extra entry? Blog about this post and leave a second comment.

You have until Saturday at Midnight to enter! I will pick a winner through random.org and announce the winner here on Sunday (November 18).

*Don't forget to also enter my other two give-aways going on this week...
The Internet Password Organizer HERE and
The Mattress Protector - or Pillow case protector from Protect a Bed HERE
And don't forget to check back - at least once a day because the give aways just keep comin'

I love your blog! We're being evnironmentally responsible by recycling our paper, plastic, glass and cans. I'm also using more tote bags instead of plastic bags at stores. If I'm chosen, I would love the Cotton-Tail doll. Thanks for all your help!

we use cloth diapers to cut down on the disposal waste an we also wash almost everything in cold water. we also unplug every major electronic item in the home. just a simple cell phone charge will increase your electric bill. we would love Moppsy,

I use cloth bags and make my own cleaners. Peter!

Peter Rabbit of course! ;) I just started using reusable shopping bags about 4-5 months ago, and I love them. I also love knowing that I am cutting down on waste!

I've started a collection of reusable shopping bags and strung a clothesline in the backyard. We are also trying to be more careful about energy and trying to make good decisions about when we really need the heater, and whether we really need the back porch light on when we leave the house. Lots of small steps...

And Peter is definitely the one I'd like to get. I love Peter Rabbit and all the Beatrix Potter characters!

My husband rides his bike to work instead of driving (when it's not snowing).

Peter Rabbit, please! :)

All the rabbits are so cute. I like all of them. There are so many things we do to be green. Make own cleaners, laundry with cold water, recycle plastic, soda cans, cardboard, mulch grass, compost pile, energy efficient light bulbs, unplug any thing electrical we are not using, wash dishes by hand, use "Nothing Goes to Waste" site, where my local area offers free items. All items must be free... Have my own garage sales, and shop at garage sales and thrift shops...it's all part of recycling. Be kind to Mother Earth. : )

We wash everything except towels and diapers on cold, and I'm making Christmas presents for my husband and our kids this year instead of buying at the mass merchandisers.

I'd like Peter Rabbit. Great giveaway, thank you!

We set our thermostat to reduce energy - we turn it off completely when the weather allows at all and open our windows. We also wash in cold ONLY & recycle cans and plastic. I think I'd like Cotton Tail.

I wash our laundry in cold water, reuse the printer paper for my grocery lists and five year old class, turn off lights not in use in the house, and recycle! I have a "green" friend who is having her first baby soon and I would love to give her the Peter doll. :)

tampa, fl. i'm on disability and my wife is on social security. by living on so much less now then when we were working, our carbon footprint is getting smaller. much to the dismay of the greatgrandkids who are not in this years xmas budget for presents. the cars are parked most of the time and we don't consume like our president says is good for the economy. maybe as more people lose their homes and jobs they will see live in a different prospective with having to do less and without. me, i sign up for freebies and give them away.

We recycle, and try cut down on our energy usage by dialing back the heat, keeping off the lights, and washing all but our dirtiest laundry on cold water.

I've always loved Peter!

Thanks!

We recycle, use a brita pitcher vs. buying water bottles, use cloth bags (if and when I remember), only turned on the AC 5-6 times this summer, and I live in So Cal, use tupperware vs. plastic baggies for my daughters lunches, and make my own laundry detergent.
I would really love Peter, thank you.

How cute! We recycle, but I think the most important thing we do is teaching my 4 year old about turning off the lights, not playing with the water in the sink, etc.

All of the bunnies are cute, but Peter is a classic!

I'd have to pick Peter since my son's name is Peter.

I wash and reuse ziplock bags, recycle newspapers and egg cartons, we walk to the grocery store, and really just try to reduce, reuse and recycle whenever possible.

Thanks, elizachallis@hotmail.com

To do our small part, we bring along our environmentally friendly grocery bags when we go shopping, forgoing the paper or plastic. We also recycle newspaper, cardboard, plastic and glass.

I would love Peter, he's so cute!!!

It's a small part, but I don't bag the tons of leaves we get in the Fall(saves using ALOT of those black garbage bags, believe me) - I put them all in my vegetable garden as winter cover and then in the spring we turn it over. Naturally aids the soil!

I would love to win this Peter Rabbit! My friend's daughter just had a girl and it would make a great gift!

We've been trying to switch out our old regular light bulbs with CFL bulbs and I've been trying to talk my husband into paying more for biodegradable trash bags (it isn't working though). I'm also looking to get into composting (sad how excited I am about it lol)
